You are already Enough

a little ditty I wrote this morning. With a small circle of sweet friends on zoom.

You are already enough

You are already enough.

A tall drink of water,

An aspen tree that is budding in Spring,

The way you move that body when you dance,

Laugh,

And your realness with tears and grief.

You are already enough.

You spill out and over yourself.

Your cup is not empty, nor full.

Your cup is overflowing.

Your enoughness is a shiny coin

on the pavement that is cracked and stained.

You are already enough.

Simply because you exist.

Because you were invited to be here.

Because your soul inhabits a living body.

You are already enough

Like the weed sprouting in my backyard

Like the daffodil budding,

Like the flowering plum tree.

You are already enough

Even if you never bear fruit.

There is nothing you need to do

To already be enough.

And how to remember this enoughness?

How to embrace the already?

Smell the blossoms of the apple tree

Bless the weed as you pull it,

Sink your feet into the green spring grass,

Gather the people you love to you,

Smile with your eyes when you feel joy,

Cry rivulets when you feel sad,

Acknowledge your feelings,

Your senses,

Your imagination.

Your humanness.

Embody your existence

Like the blade of green grass,

Like the hummingbird.

Yup. Do it.
